The first thing to do before you get started it to pinpoint your niche. A niche is basically the overall topic you want to focus on with your blog and the target audience you expect to read it. It is very important to choose something that you are both knowledgeable and passionate about. Your blogging experience will be much more enjoyable and you will find yourself with more to write about if you do. Don't worry about picking a topic that "sounds" like it will make money. Programs like Google AdSense can find relevant advertisements for the content of your blog no matter what it is. More on that later.
There are lots of websites that will host your blog for free. One of the most popular is Blogger.com. Setup is easy and should only take about 5 - 10 minutes. For Blogger you will need to create a Google Account. If you already have a gmail account you can sign in using that. Next, choose a title and url for your blog. Your title should be related to the niche you chose earlier. A reader should be able to get the gist of what your blog will be about just from reading the title. Later on you can customize your blog with different themes, colors, and fonts, etc.
After you've got everything setup and you've posted a few entries, it's time to get into the money making. To include AdSense on your new blog you'll need an AdSense account. If you haven't already done so,
On the layout tab of your Blogger account you will see your options for customizing your page elements. Click one of the open spots to "Add a page element". Among the options displayed is AdSense. Add this element and enter your AdSense account information as requested.
Now you're all set to begin making money from your blog. When your readers click ads from your AdSense elements you will earn money. Two key things I want to end this article with:
The more traffic you can get to your blog the better your earnings will be.
The way to get more traffic is to write great content that people will want to read and to promote it so people know it exists.
